Olympic figure skating medalist Michelle Kwan allowed to compete at this year's Olympics

One of the most important performances of Michelle Kwan's career came today with none of the usual drama and glamour of her long, lucrative figure skating career.

With jumps, spins and spirals, Michelle Kwan on Friday earned one more run at that elusive Olympic gold medal.

In a nearly empty rink in Artesia, Calif., south of Los Angeles, with no crowd to charm, no television cameras to capture her trademark smile, Kwan still captivated a team of United States Figure Skating officials, who decided she is fit to compete in a third Olympics in pursuit of an ever-elusive gold medal.

Kwan skated her short and long programs in front of a five-member panel, which determined that she could compete in the Turin Games in Italy, which begin on Feb. 10. It ended the biggest of the pre-Games dramas, the great mystery of whether Kwan could return for another try. . . . . .Full Story
