Aggrieved soap star Kari Wuhrer has filed a multimillion-dollar discrimination and wrongful termination lawsuit against ABC, alleging that she was fired from the daytime drama after she told the show's writers and producers that she was pregnant.

In her court documents, Wuhrer, 38, claims she informed the show of her condition in August to allow time for her pregnancy to be written into the plot. Instead, she states, she was fired two weeks later after ABC created the "pretext" that she wasn't "sexy" and "there was no chemistry with her character's love interest, Sonny Corinthos."

Wuhrer, who is described in her suit as "dazzling and beautiful" and "one of daytime soap's most popular actresses," alleges that the show's producers killed off her character because they were unwilling to contend with the effects that pregnancy would have upon her figure.

"The vile underbelly of the Hollywood Machine encourages female actors to be as beautiful and slim as possible," Wuhrer's suit states. "God forbid that an actress should mar her perfect shape with a pregnancy. If an actress dares to become pregnant, her choice is simple: terminate the pregnancy or be terminated."

Per the suit, Wuhrer began playing the part of Reese Marshall on General Hospital in January 2005 and quickly gained popularity with the show's audience, a fact she claims was documented by ABC's viewer polls.

Despite her favorable viewer ratings, Wuhrer claims that General Hospital's co-head writer Robert Guza "flatly refused" to work around her pregnancy and elected instead to author her character's demise. . . . . .Full Story
